Weekly Log.

Friday 26th October.

Today i finished off my mind map about the target audience and uploaded it to blogger. I then added some extra information into the post to further explain who my target audience would be. I then created my Assignment Planner and planned out the 7 weeks ahead and what i hope to have achieved in the next 7 weeks. I have planned every week up to the deadline and know what i will be doing each week.

Friday 9th November.

Im researching for my article now that i know what i'm doing. I've decided to do my article on up and coming bands in 2013 and new albums that are coming out. I've found that wiki has a list of new albums that are coming out and their dates which is useful, i've also looked at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize winners. Next lesson im going to start planning my questionnaire to fill out my primary research.

Friday 16th November

This week i looked into two articles that were relevant to my topic and analysed them. Their style, their language (if it was informal, formal, colloquial). I created a questionnaire with 6 questions to hand out next lesson.

Friday 23rd November

Today i handed out my questionnaires and got my results back, i spent the lesson creating graphs and charts with my data and figuring out what to put into my article.

Mind map on target audience

The target audience are teenagers between 16-18 years old.
  • Music/Films & TV; They would be interested in Tv channels like E4, MTV, BBC 3, Music Channels, Channel 4, BBC 1 and ITV 1. Music would be what ever their taste includes and radio stations like Radio 1, Capital, Kerrang, Kiss and other. Films would include the latest blockbusters and indies. In particular genre's like horror/action/romcoms and comedy. Festivals.

  • Jobs: If they did have a job it would be a low income job that generates enough money to feed their social life. Most jobs would include retail, catering, pubs/shops/restaurants.

BBC presenters and pop stars abusing children, who can we trust?

Written by Jessica Bone

As you’ve probably seen spread across the news and newspapers over the past few weeks, Jimmy Savile’s sex scandal is top headlines. Savile was a BBC presenter in our parents/grandparents generation but the truths are only being uncovered now, after his death.

Women are now coming forward to tell their horrific stories of how Savile would visit hospital wards, children’s care homes and even schools to attract young girls and then lure them into his car. As a familiar face he was well known and trusted. These girls thought he was a star, someone who wasn’t capable of the things he did.

Child abuse is a serious issue all over the world and the fact that the BBC employed this man only makes these claims and accusations even more horrific. As teenagers ourselves we need to ask, who can we trust? When we live in a world where the most inviting people could possibly be sex offenders then it makes it pretty hard for us to judge people.

Child abuse is something that these women have found so hard to talk about they’ve hidden these horrible memories for years. If the issues in this article have affected you, then please talk to someone.

Jim can’t fix this scandal.

Written by Jessica bone

The face of Jimmy Savile is one that we all know. As a BBC presenter he was part of our daily routine on shows like Jim’ll Fix It and Top Of The Pops.  His bubbly personality and charming presence is now something that has been slaughtered due to new evidence that has recently surfaced and his reputation is definitely something that can’t be fixed.

Various women have stepped forward to tell the police about their traumatic experiences with sexually frustrated Savile. Many have even described how Savile used to visit children’s homes and hospital wards to carry out his disturbing deeds.

The BBC have been in complete disrupt due to these allegations as Lord Patten has been arguing that there has been no corporate cover up during this scandal. Where as the Metropolitan Police are now investigating into 120 different inquiries, some of which are said to have happened in the presenters dressing room on the set of his BBC shows.

With vile stories like this coming out about Savile, its no wonder that his grave stone has been smashed to pieces and that some family members have dis-associated themselves from the vile man that we found so caring.
